Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul confronted Markwayne Mullin, the nominee for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, over his alleged anger issues during a Senate confirmation hearing. Paul accused Mullin of celebrating violence against his political opponents and suggesting that someone who celebrates this sentiment should not be qualified to serve as the DHS secretary. Mullin had previously claimed he understood why Paul's neighbor, Rene Boucher, had attacked him in November 2017, causing Paul to break six ribs and several bouts of pneumonia. If Paul votes against Mullin in the upcoming hearing, at least one Democrat must vote in favor of Mullin for him to be confirmed.
