The CEO of SaferWatch, Geno Roefaro, has been indicted on federal bribery charges in the district of New York. The FBI reviewed the company's ties to the Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) in August and found no wrongdoing. DLE director Mike Lambert was not aware of any wrongdoing while working at DLE when the five-year contracts were completed in May 2024 and was appointed as CEO in January 2025. Saferwatch provides safety monitoring services that can instantly notify law enforcement of crimes or emergencies. The company is also being piloted for a Hawaii school safety program that uses mobile and wearable panic buttons to alert teachers and administrators of a threat.
