US court allows transfer of transgender women to men's prisons, for now

A U.S. appeals court has declined to block President Donald Trump's administration from transferring 18 transgender women from federal custody to men's prisons. However, it gave a federal judge who argued the move was unconstitutional and sent the case back to court for further proceedings. The court stated that it was free to consider whether the plaintiffs were entitled to relief based on further findings of fact and analysis. The plaintiffs had argued that they were particularly vulnerable to violence due to their age, hormone therapy, and histories of being sexually assaulted. Both judges, who are appointees of former President Barack Obama and George H.W.
