A sexual abuse case at an assisted living facility in Arizona has raised the issue of assisted living camera legislation. The case was discovered after a woman with dementia was sexually abused by a staff member at Grand Court Senior Living in Mesa. The incident was discovered when her daughter had video evidence. Lawmakers are considering allowing for families to install cameras in loved ones' rooms without permission from the facility. The worker, Gamacy Gilles, initially denied the wrongdoing but the video evidence provided by the daughter proved otherwise. Gilles is now facing criminal charges including sex abuse and abuse of a vulnerable adult. The House passed the measure with a 41-11 vote and it is now heading to the Senate.
