New Charges, Sentences For Martinez, Pleasant Hill Execs In $912 M Solar Ponzi Scheme

Ronald J. Roach, a 57-year-old Walnut Creek resident, pleaded guilty to criminal offenses related to the fraud scheme and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 13, 2026. The latest sentencing involves a corporate attorney, Ari J. Lauer, who admitted to orchestrating the DC Solar fraud scheme, who will spend more than a decade in federal prison. The scheme, which claimed investors would buy mobile solar generators and lease them back to the company, largely ignored the market for the equipment and labeled the transfers as lease revenue. The transactions totalled $912 million and involved roughly 17,000 generators valued at about $2.5 billion.
