Blanche says DOJ providing counsel on legality of Iran strikes

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has stated that the Department of Justice has been providing legal counsel to the Trump administration regarding possible strikes on Iran. This comes amid criticism from lawmakers, legal experts, and international community about the potential war crime of President Trump's plans to heavily strike infrastructure in Iran. The United Nations has issued a reminder about the limits of war under the Geneva Conventions. Over 100 international law experts in the U.S. have signed an open letter opposing U.-S. strikes on Iranian schools, health facilities, and homes. The U.N. has reminded members of Congress that a “whole civilization” will die unless Iran reopens the critical shipping choke point through the Strait of Hormuz.
