A spacecraft built jointly by China and Europe is set to launch as part of the SMILE mission, which aims to observe the Earth's magnetic field in real time. The mission is part of a larger effort to observe solar storms that can trigger geomagnetic storms and pose a significant threat to satellites in low-Earth orbit. The spacecraft will be operated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the European Space Agency.
