Met considering using AI to help online child sexual abuse cases

The Metropolitan Police is considering using AI technology to assist with investigations into online child sexual abuse and exploitation cases, which are increasing year on the rise. Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes believes this could significantly reduce the time officers and staff are exposed to the most distressing material. The force is also considering another piece of technology that could allow officers to review and assess 641,000 messages in 35 minutes. However, critics argue that the use of AI raises serious privacy concerns and lacks clear regulation.
