Scientists have discovered that the Moon got a new impact crater in 2024, which is expected to occur once every 139 years. The discovery was discovered through data collected by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The scientists identified a 225m-wide impact crater, measuring the length of two football fields, likely first appeared between April and May 2024. The impact left significant amounts of rock and dust debris across a wide area, with disturbances detected as far as 120km away. This discovery raises concerns about potential impacts on lunar missions, particularly for the US and China, who are attempting to land on the moon for the first time in decades.
