Strong geomagnetic storms across the U.S. and northern Europe have caused a stunning display of aurora aurora displays due to a complex wave of solar energy, which hit Earth as a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and a fast stream of from a coronal hole. The strong (G3) storm levels set up widespread aurora sightings, leading to a dazzling show from North America to northern Europe. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada shared a dramatic timelapse of the weekend auroras. However, there may still be minor to moderate (G1 to G2) storm conditions until March 23.
