Fed officials are growing anxious about the Iran war

Tension is increasing among Federal Reserve officials regarding inflation as the effects of the US-Israeli war with Iran broaden. The Iran war, which began in March, has been in its tenth week and has made it difficult for businesses to access key commodities like oil, fertilizer, helium, and aluminum. Three officials, including Fed presidents Beth Hammack of Cleveland, Lorie Logan of Dallas and Neel Kashkari of Minneapolis, disagreed with the Fed’s “easing bias” or the suggestion that rates may go lower. They believe the Fed is not being transparent about the growing chances of a rate hike and are likely not the only ones with these concerns within the Fed's 19-person rate-setting committee. The fear of inflationary pressures is also increasing, with inflation expectations rising to a three-year high.
