Comedian Charlie Berens has been hailed as the new front-runner to "A Prairie Home Companion," with his appearance at the State Theatre in Minneapolis on March 27 being nearly sold-out. Despite being younger than Garrison Keillor, Berens acts like he grew up in the Reagan era and is nostalgic for the days when swing sets didn't come with safety belts and Billy Joel was king. He still lives in Wisconsin, making him one of the few nationally known comics to make the Midwest his home base. He has over 10 million followers across various social media platforms, and his stints in Minneapolis, Milwaukee and Madison are his longest and most popular. Despite not being known for his eccentricity, Bereens is considered a great salesman and a successful comic.
