The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has ratified a four-year contract with studios and streamers, injecting $321 million into the union's health plan. The agreement was supported by over 90 percent of members and rejected by 9.6 percent in a ratification vote. The deal allows for the largest-ever boost to annual health funding in the union’s history, according to WGA West president Michele Mulroney. The union also made progress on its campaign against employers seeking free work from writers by expanding its "second-step" payment for screenplays and limiting requests for rewrites or delivery to the named person on a writer's contract.
