The image from April 10, 2026, shows NASA's Orion spacecraft, with its parachutes deployed seconds before it splattered in the Pacific Ocean. The mission was part of a larger effort to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on the foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars. The team achieved numerous milestones during their mission, including surpassing the Apollo 13 record for farthest crewed spaceflight and capturing views of the far side of the moon.
