Ernie Dosio, a 75-year-old Northern California grape grower and avid hunter, was killed during a hunting trip in Gabon’s Lope region on April 17 after a sudden encounter with a herd of elephants. The animals charged through dense brush, trampling and killing him. Despite the deaths, Dosio remained committed to humanitarian efforts related to the expeditions.
