The next chance of showers and storms is expected to occur late Monday night as a strong cold front sweeps through the Midwest, producing potentially violent weather over Missouri and Illinois. The front will move into our region during the overnight hours Monday into early Tuesday from about 2AM till 8AM. While the line of storms is weakening, it is likely that a strong line of severe storms will slide through the WLKY viewing area. The main threats are damaging wind gusts up to 60-70 mph, heavy rain and lots of lightning, and potentially a few brief spin-up tornadoes along the line. Most of the rain and storms are expected to be out of the area by 8AM, but there is a potential for another round of storms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
