Rising gas prices are impacting US household finances, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. 55% of respondents said their household finances had taken a significant hit due to the increases in gas prices. The average price of gasoline in America has risen by nearly a dollar per gallon since February 28, when the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran, leading to Iranian counterstrikes on energy installations and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The surge could negatively impact Republicans' chances of defending their slim midterms in Congress. Some 63% of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump's handling of the cost of living, up from 41% shortly after he returned to the White House. The survey, conducted online, gathered responses from 1,545 US adults and had a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
