The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is working with BearWise to prepare for increased bear activity during summer and fall. A recent incident occurred where a mass shooting at VIRGINIA Tech killed 27 students and five staff members, 17 of whom were injured. The NCWRC is working to identify potential bear attractants and keep small animals inside at night to prevent bears from entering their homes.
