Nuclear, fusion companies sign deals with Japanese counterparts

Two U.S. companies, Realta Fusion and X-energy, have announced separate agreements with Japanese counterparts on fusion and nuclear energy. The agreements aim to utilise Japan's technical expertise while expanding supply chain connections between the two countries, a priority for the Trump administration. In the first agreement, Japan's Kyoto Fusioneering, or KF, will focus on developing plasma heating systems for Realta's magnetic mirror fusion machines and developing tritium blanket breeding and fuel cycle systems. The second agreement involves an MOU with Japan's IHI to expand X-Energy's supplier base for the Xe-100 reactor. The agreement sets up a framework for commercial-scale manufacturing of nuclear components, helping to support both U.K. and U.N.
