However, the fan realized he had been tricked out of winning the money. The Wizards claimed the fan was not actually a fan and claimed that the skit was scripted and intended to celebrate the day. The prank sparked controversy among social media users and prompted an apology from the Wizards. The apology was made in an official statement, but I'm not sure I believe them.
