A federal lawsuit has been filed against developers of three new rental apartment complexes in Queens and Brooklyn, claiming they have denied equal housing opportunity to people with physical disabilities. The complaint alleges that the developers, architects and designers of the buildings, Astor on Third II, The Northern, Long Island City, and Bridgeview DUMBO, have been ignoring their legal obligations and have violated the federal Fair Housing Act. The lawsuit also alleges that several defendants have already agreed to fix accessibility issues at the original Astor building. The violations were discovered when anonymous testers investigated the buildings for potential accessibility issues. The defendants include several limited liability corporations and holding companies affiliated with the Rabsky Group, NY Building Associates, engineer Naresh Mahangu, Durukan Design and Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects.
