The Anchorage Assembly appears to be on track to retain its current composition, with a majority aligned with Mayor Suzanne LaFrance on a wide range of issues. The first tranche of ballots in the city's municipal elections have shown most of the incumbents or majority aligned candidates with significant leads over challengers. The election officials had counted 42,094 ballots, representing 17.9% of the city’s 235,398 registered voters. Half of the Assembly's 12 seats are being decided, with two of its long-serving members, Christopher Constant and Felix Rivera, not seeking reelection due to their three-term limits. In the District 1 race, Sydney Scout has a significant lead over the next highest vote-getter, with 54.2% of votes. In West Anchorage, Assembly Vice Chair Anna Brawley leads challenger Brian Flynn by nearly 12 percentage points.
