Iran's ex-foreign minister calls for 'comprehensive' peace with US

Former Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has called for a comprehensive peace deal with the US. In a guest article for the magazine Foreign Affairs, Zarif argued that the underlying conflict must be resolved to ensure a complete peace agreement. He suggested that both countries should use this opportunity to end 47 years of belligerence. Since the US and Israel's attack on Iran on February 28, dozens of leading Iranian military and political figures have been killed, including former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The war has resulted in Iran's missile and nuclear programmes being halted by military means.
