Yankees pitcher Ryan Weathers raced 180 miles to the birth of his son, Paul David Weathers, three days before his due date. While his wife, Thayer, was rushed to a local hospital, Weathers was 180 miles away. He made it just in time. The birth of Paul was one of the best moments of Weathers' life, with the baby weighing 9 pounds, 10 ounces. While on paternity leave, he returned to play catch at Yankee Stadium and learned about his son's arrival. Despite not being the pitcher of record, Weather's contributions helped the Yankees extend their winning streak to eight games. His 3.21 ERA is 17th best among qualifying American League starters.
