Connecticut state Sen. Tony Hwang has resigned from his position after more than 30 years of public service. Hwang, a Fairfield resident, plans to return to his real estate profession and spend more time with his wife and adult children. He also plans to teach and mentor young leaders about constructive participation in government, politics, and civic life. Despite a setback in February when he was defeated by Democrat Christine Vitale for Fairfield's First Selectperson post, Hwang remains committed to respectful engagement and collaborative problem-solving. He expressed pride in his service as a proud Connecticut Republican and hopes to address the current climate of division by working with nonprofit partners and academic institutions to encourage renewed civic engagement and leadership.
