The 29th Sonoma Intl. Film Festival will begin with Maude Apatow's directorial debut, "Poetic License," and Steven Soderbergh's "The Christophers," starring Ian McKellen. The festival will also screen Julian Schnabel's latest film, "In the Hand of Dante," and will host a special evening of talk about Schnabel’s career, visual art and cinema. Its 104-film lineup spans 37 countries and includes "Under the Lights," which follows a teen with epilepsy who attends prom. Festival artistic director Carl Spence praised the flexibility of the festival for not requiring premieres, but noted that it's more about finding great films. The event also features a feature competition section and a documentary competition.
