A bill in the North Carolina Senate could allow voters to decriminalize marijuana during the midterms. The bill was filed by Senator Caleb Theodros of District 41 in Mecklenburg County and could result in two amendments to the state’s constitution, one for limited amounts of cannabis for personal use and another for medical use by patients with qualifying conditions. The legislation does not specify how much marijuana is decriminalized or what conditions would qualify someone for such use. Some voters are divided on whether or not people should be allowed to make such a decision, while others question the need for a referendum.
