Wind energy project abandoned in Rice County

NextEra Energy, an energy company based in Florida, has abandoned a proposed wind energy project in Rice County, Kansas. The project was set to include up to 106 wind turbines capable of generating approximately 300 megawatts of renewable energy and would have begun operations by May 2028. The company had planned to hold an informational meeting with the public, but it was cancelled before it started.
