The Artemis II astronauts, the first crewed lunar mission since Apollo 17, have returned to the moon with a historic 10-day, 695,000-mile journey powered by NASA's most powerful rocket, the Space Launch System, on only its second flight. The team's Orion crew capsule, nicknamed Integrity, carried four astronauts on a 10-hour journey that included Christina Koch becoming the first woman to leave Earth's orbit and travel around the moon. Since its historic launch from Kennedy Space Center on April 1, Artemis II has delivered a series of remarkable images, including four photos of Earth setting behind the moon, a rare total solar eclipse seen from deep space, and a rare crescent Earth, Venus, and an image of the terminator line. The crew was the first to witness total solar eclipses from the moon's far side, witnessing one from the far side.
