The 'Nickel per Nip Environmental Fee' program, introduced in October 2021, has generated over $22M for local governments across the state of Connecticut. The program allows for 5 cents per nip sold within the borders of each nip to be used for various environmental purposes, including community clean-ups, street sweeper purchases, and food composting programs.
