Bay Area saw job gains in January, new report shows

The Bay Area saw a significant increase in jobs in January, with 15,000 positions added. The state Employment Development Department credits this increase to the South Bay, San Francisco-San Mateo region, and East Bay. The job gains were significant compared to the previous year when job losses were significant. The unemployment rate in California rose to 5.4%, compared to 5.,000 positions in December.
