Popular Brooklyn BBQ restaurant fights back against steep delivery app commissions

Popy New York City barbecue restaurant, Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue, is fighting back against the high 30% commissions that delivery services like DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats charge for many orders. The restaurant encourages customers to place orders directly through its own web sites and app, rather than relying on big tech services. Since setting up a dedicated app six months ago, orders placed directly by customers increased from 5% to 15% of Morgan’s deliveries. The owner, Matthew Glazier, is aiming for a 50% increase in direct orders. He has tried to negotiate with the companies but they refused to budge on their 30% commission.
