A 2-year-old boy from Ohio, Crew Dearth, survived a liver transplant from his aunt, Taylor, after a rare form of cancer that affected one to two children per million in the US. The transplant was successful due to the location of the tumor in his liver, which had also spread to his lungs, and intense rounds of chemotherapy and monitoring. Despite initially being placed on the transplant waiting list, Taylor became aware of the possibility for a living donor to donate a portion of their liver to someone who is medically compatible. Both procedures were successful and Crew's family is committed to sharing his story with others in hopes that more people will be aware of how life-changing organ donation can be made.
