Lakeville South's boys basketball team suffered a disappointing loss to Chaska in a state quarterfinal match, losing 71-53. The fifth-seeded Hawks, who scored the first basket of the game and never trailed fourth seed Lakeville South, won the game at Target Center. Chaska's Chase Maetzold and Tyler Forrest scored 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the team, while Chaska will face top-seeding Tartan (30-0) in the semifinals. The Cougars fell short of their ultimate goal of winning a state championship, but senior guard Collin Johnson said it was a special moment for his team, which has been playing together since elementary school. Chask's head coach Nick Hayes praised his team's depth and fight on the glass.
