A stranded humpback whale has been stranded off Germany's Baltic Sea coast for over a month. The Environment Ministry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has provided no information on the whale's health. Dozens of sand bags are being loaded onto a floating platform at Kirchdorf, the island's main harbour. Local businessman is working on a channel leading to deeper water, with the intention of guiding the whale out to sea on Sunday or Monday. The whale, named as "Timmy", briefly escaped on Monday after being stuck for three weeks in one spot but stopped near the entrance of Wismar Bay.
