Slanted, the feature directorial debut of Amy Wang, has been met with mixed reviews, with critics praising its unique twists and themes. The film follows the story of a Chinese American teenager who undergoes an experimental surgery to erase traces of her Chinese ethnicity and assumes a new body. Critics praised the largely Asian American crew for their authenticity and making interesting points about the American teen experience through the lens of immigrant families.
