Maureen Walgren, the mother of late 16-year-old son, Corey Walgren from Naperville, has published a self-published memoir, "Invisible Threads," nine years after her son's death. The memoir details the circumstances surrounding Corey's suicide, which was ruled a suicide by suicide after he was confronted by Naperville police about the "child pornography" recording he allegedly made and shared with friends. The Walgren family would sue Naperville School District 203 and the city for their handling of the situation, starting a nonprofit to encourage schools to be sensitive in how they handle student discipline. They also established a state law requiring parents to be present when minors are questioned by police on school grounds. Walgren's husband, Doug, lost his job the same day that day. The family's relationship with Corey was disrupted by an internet troll making false claims about her son, leading to a police intervention.
