The Minnesota Wild, Grand Casino Arena and St. Paul RiverCentre are partnering with Green Cities Accord, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit with a mission of investing in climate-resilient communities by investing in tree canopy infrastructure. The team, which first partnered with the nonprofit in 2025, purchased over 1,300 metric tons of carbon dioxide by purchasing carbon credits from the nonprofit, the equivalent of removing hundreds of cars from the road for a year. The purchases are used to plant trees around the Twin Cities and restore the urban tree canopy. The initiative led St.Paul RiverCentres to create Trees for Travel, which allows events to offset attendees' travel emissions by purchasing credits from Green Cities.
