A house fire in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, caused by candles, has resulted in the rescue of two people, with one of the occupants transported to the hospital and another receiving treatment for smoke inhalation. The homeowner, Sardias Canela, said her brother, who suffers from a mental illness, lit candles and the property was vacant and in probate. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames after about a half hour of work. The fire caused a significant hole in the roof, causing it to vent through the roof. Canela's brother is expected to be okay. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
