The federal government has issued an alert to law enforcement agencies regarding the potential activation of Iranian sleeper cells after discovering encrypted communications that reportedly originated in Iran. The message was sent across multiple countries following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a U.S.-Israeli strike. The federal government warned that the communications could potentially serve as an "operational trigger" for sleeper assets outside the country. Despite there being no specific threat tied to a specific location, the federal government directed agencies to increase their observation of suspicious radio-frequency activity. Concerns about potential attacks on U.K. soil and rising gas and oil prices have also been raised since the conflict began, with gas hitting $100 per barrel for the first time since 2022.
