New records reveal that thousands of people were arrested, deported during Operation Midway Blitz last fall, which was codenamed "nomenomen". The Freedom of Information Act lawsuit revealed that over 90 percent of those detained were from Chicago. The data also revealed that 58% of those apprehended had no criminal history, while 23% had pending misdemeanor or felony charges, and 18% had prior convictions. While the number of federal agents in the Chicago region decreased after November, hundreds of arrests still occur each month into 2026. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated these operations were to remove the "worst of the worst" individuals.
