Fartcoin, a subset of altcoins, has experienced a sharp drop of 28% from its peak of $71,000 to around $0.178. The price action was exacerbated by a surge in buying pressure, which led to a liquidation of $48 million in long positions and $3.7 million in shorts in the past 24 hours. This liquidation event was the highest since November 2025. Most of these liquidations were on decentralized exchange Hyperliquid, which recorded $85 million in 24-hour liquidations, surpassing centralized exchanges like Binance, Bybit, and Gate. The recent volatility is attributed to declining macro risk appetite and tightening on-chain liquidity, according to Tim Sun, senior researcher at HashKey Group. The collapse of the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran could potentially impact Bitcoin's outlook.
