Breaking: Police charge driver in connection with hit-and-run Friday in Batavia

Police have charged Jacob P.G. Belarmino, 28, of North Aurora, with several counts of leaving the scene of an injury crash, a Class 2 felony, failing to report a crash, and failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, was hit by the dark-colored SUV and sustained injuries but was not life-threatening. The driver allegedly left the scene without calling authorities, rendering aid, or reporting the accident. Police have identified Belarmano as the driver of the dark SUV that hit the pedestrian.
