A man with a machete attacked three people randomly at a major New York City subway station before being shot and killed by police. The suspect, identified as Anthony Griffin, had three prior unsealed arrests and was acting erratically. He was ordered to drop his weapon at least 20 times but did not comply, and was shot twice by an officer when he advanced towards the officers with the knife extended. The three stabbing victims were not thought to be life-threatening. The police department advised travelers to avoid the area during the investigation and expect delays and heavy traffic.
