Bank of England interest rate-setter Megan Greene has stated that she is not close to voting to raise interest rates at the upcoming Monetary Policy Committee meeting due to the impact of the Middle East conflict. While some members of the MPC have suggested a rate hike, Greene warned that the risk of inflation persistence had increased and that British households may become more sensitive to inflation shocks. A survey by U.S. bank Citi showed that public expectations for the coming year had surged by the most in over 20 years, rising to 5.4% in March from 3.3% in February.
