Exclusive: DNC bets on the South as next political battleground

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is positioning the South as the next political center of gravity, according to DNC Chair Ken Martin. He predicts that by 2032, some congressional power and electoral votes will shift from the North to the South. The party is increasing spending and organizing in red states like Louisiana, where it is also giving an extra $5,000 per month to state parties. Despite this, Martin faces a growing crisis of confidence within his party, with some questioning his leadership, fundraising ability and handling of the party's secret autopsy of the 2024 presidential election loss. The DNC has about $15 million in cash on hand but is more than $17 million in debt as of last month.
