Owner of beloved pizza institution, still recovering from fire, hospitalized

The family of New Jersey pizza icon Al Santillo has requested public support following a medical emergency. Santillo, who owns Santillo's Brick Oven Pizza in Elizabeth, is in the hospital after suffering a stroke. The news comes as the restaurant has been closed since January 2024 due to a fire. The community has rallied around Santillo and has created a Facebook group for volunteers to assist in the reconstruction.
