Published on April 24, 2026.
The Florida franchise of Skyline Chili, a popular Midwestern chain, has closed after nearly four decades. The owner, Gates Rodenfels, announced the closure on his Facebook account and a handwritten note posted to the door of the Naples restaurant. The franchise had locations in Fort Myers and Naples, Florida, and was closing after over 38 years. A spokesperson for the chain expressed gratitude for Rodefels' commitment and are seeking new franchise candidates to continue the Skyline tradition in Southwest Florida. The restaurant was initially located in a mall in Naples, then moved to a retail strip, but the change from retail center led to the closure. The chain now has four locations in Florida and all other locations in the Midwest.
