US blindsides states with surprise settlement in Live Nation/Ticketmaster trial

The US government has agreed to stop pursuing a breakup of Live Nation and Ticketmaster as part of a settlement that blindsided state attorneys general during a trial. Attorneys general from 27 states and the District of Columbia are still pursuing the case without the US government. The lawsuit, filed in 2024, alleged that Live Nation had a monopoly on the delivery of live music and asked for the divestiture of Ticketmaster. The judge presiding over the case stated that the settlement was unacceptable.
