Miami-Dade to share district schools with charter operator

The Miami-Dade School Board has approved an agreement with Success Academy, New York's largest charter school conglomerate, to share building space within five district high schools in the county until August 2027. This is part of the state's expanded Schools of Hope program, which targets "persistently" low-performing schools. However, critics argue that the agreement undermines traditional public schools. Success Academy will pay the district $700 per student annually to cover maintenance, utilities, transportation and security expenses, but the agreement states that these fees are insufficient to cover the "proportional costs" the district will face.
